AFTRS is Australia’s Screen and Broadcast School, established to fuel and empower Australian creativity and storytelling. AFTRS is consistently rated as one of the top film School’s in the world.

We are looking for an experienced Gaffer to join the School Resources Production Team. You will be responsible for providing and overseeing the provision of effective in-house gaffer services. You will provide a secure learning environment for our students, providing clear instructions on all aspects of lighting and the handling of electrical equipment.

This is an exciting new role offering great career development, working within a committed and engaged team, reporting to the Head of Production Operations.

Selection Criteria

Essential:

1. At least 5 years’ experience as a working Gaffer in the Australian screen industry on a variety of productions in both film and television, with current knowledge of industry practices, developments and trends.
2. Experience in delivering training to contractors, staff and students
3. Demonstrated ability to work to the WH&S regulations and the Safe Set Guidelines.
4. Proven organisational, planning and time management skills.
5. Strong communication and negotiation skills and an ability to work in a collaborative team environment

Desirable:

1. Electrical Trades Certificate or equivalent
2. Riggers ticket
3. Test and tag certificate
4. First Aid qualifications

Salary: $67,811 - $72,897 (dependent on experience) plus excellent benefits package.
